The inbound medical tourists flow increased to 1M patients in 2019 — with a rise of 370% for the last 4 years. In 2019 pre-Covid ,000 patients came to Turkey for medical tourism, 352,000 of them alone was for cosmetic surgery. All of the operations have high success rates, thanks to knowledgeable doctors and professional teams. During demographic change, the topic of health and wellness is becoming more and more important.

On the occasion of Tourism Week, Emin Cakmak, President of the Turkish Health Tourism Development Council, shared with Anadolu his observations on developments in medical tourism. Why not allow fully vaccinated travelers to visit and with no quarantine. Officially, hair transplant surgeries can only be performed in a hospital by a doctor, dermatologist or plastic surgeon. The hospital must clearly state the procedures of hair implant surgery treatment in its records, it must be equipped with an emergency unit and at least one surgery room as defined by the health ministry. It also has to be properly registered with the national healthcare system according to Turkish laws. But illegal clinics are mostly operating in residential buildings, offices or sometimes at very small-scale hospitals. According to data from the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council , 746,000 foreign visitors landed in Turkey for medical treatment in 2015.

Taking rich thermal sources and skilled labor in medicine into account, recently, our country has been offering qualified health services competitive with those in developed countries. Moreover, geographical position of our country and skilled and well educated labour in health sector are among the most important reasons for our country to be highly favorite in health tourism. Turkey offers you service as one of the most important destinations in health tourism. An increasing number of patients from all over the world prefer private health institutions in Turkey and hospitals where large investments are made with the latest technology. Surgical operations performed by world-renowned Turkish surgeons with modern methods are becoming more and more preferred every day. Most of Anadolu’s foreign patients are referred by hospitals that cannot provide the same level of care, said Mirlan Kabylbekov, the coordinator of Anadolu’s International Patient Department.

All arrivals will be subject to a medical check for symptoms of COVID, including temperature checks, and may be asked to take random PCR testing on arrival. Non-vaccinated arrivals from outside the Schengen area will be refused entry unless they are coming for work or exceptional reasons. UK and non EU/EEA arrivals are no longer banned, with the exception of those who do not have proof of COVID-19 recovery, full vaccination or a negative PCR test from the previous 72 hours.
